Unveiling the signs

Wednesday was an eventful day. Dave had to go to the unveiling of his Utah signs and since I could not get a sitter for the ninjas I convinced him to let us all go along. Dave was nervous about taking the ninjas, but it all worked out in the end because everyone there was thrilled they were there. After Governor Huntsman spoke it was time to unveil the signs and the Governor asked Dave, the kids, and I to come up to the front. He picked up Mia and let her do the countdown and being an attention loving true Meikle child she gladly complied. We then saw the gorgeous "Welcome" sign and then we got a few picks of the family with the Governor. After that Dave had to do several interviews and sign some commemorative pennants for the press and Utah state officials that were there. I also met the Lieutenant Governor and was very impressed with his nice and generous demeanor.

On the way home Dave received a call from KSL requesting an interview. He was awesome and the interview ran on the 6pm news that night. It was a fun day for the Meikle family!

Happy Birthday Mia!

You were born almost too small to hold and now you are my big four year old girl. Going to preschool and loving life. I love you little miss! You are the best Princess Mia in the whole wide world!

More About Dave...It is ALL About Dave

Dave is thrilled that this hit the national news today. His big press conference is tomorrow. Heis excited that he gets to meet the Governor too. I was hoping to go, but I have to watch the ninjas. I can't wait to see Dave's cute face on the news tomorrow night!

Vomit-ville

Mr. Buffett may have been wastin his life away in Margaritaville, but I have been living in Vomitville ALL SUMMER LONG!!! Hence the long gap between my last post and now.

We go maybe a week without puke and then it hits again. I think I have been a pretty good sport until yesterday when it finally hit me. I now have the pukes capped off with the nasty cold I caught from my hubby or the Target cashier I am not quite sure. But, since I have kissed Dave numerous times and only kissed Captain Target once, I am blaming Dave for what ails me. It is easier to pick on the ones you love the most anyway.

Last night I went to bed at 6:30pm and woke up with chicken nuggets and fries in my bed. I am not sure what went on at my house last night, but considering I was unconscious and Dave is also ill, I guess I should be grateful no one was injured and the house was still standing. Even if it looked and kind of smelled like a frat house on Sunday morning.

I don't do sick well so I am signing off...

Pottery Barn and Visiting Teaching Make Me Evil

Pottery Barn has the best ideas for decor and the cutest textiles which I love. Every season when I received a new catalog in the mail Dave cringes as I begin flipping through pages scouring them for ideas and inspiration while making endless lists of to-dos and to-buys for the house.

I mean have you seen this chair?

Rug?

Duvet Cover

This Bed?

I want them all, and I want to repaint, re do and remodel my whole house to match. Of course I won't because I am to practical and cheap, but I love to dream, make lists and ponder the possibilities. And I really, really do want that bed when we upgrade to a king. Someday...

And now you are wondering what about visiting teaching? Well, Mo C and I visit one of the cutest ladies here in the hood and her house is simply perfection. I love her ideas and endless fab ways of re creating the ordinary. Whenever we return home and Dave sees me he just knows that trouble is brewing inside my head.

I covet, conspire, plot and lament over the possibilities existing inside our lovely home too.

Cherry Dump Cake

Here is a simple recipe I love to make. It is so easy and so good it will make you turn your back on real fruit cobblers for good. I made this the other day for our 24th Pioneer BB-Q along with Jennie-O's magic pasta salad because that is just so darn good too!

Cherry Dump Cake

2 -30 oz cans of cherry pie filling
0ne white or yellow cake mix
1 cup butter (oh yeah, this is not low fat)

Pre heat oven to 350 degrees. Dump pie filling into 9 x 13 pan. Pour dry cake mix over top. Pour melted butter over cake mix and bake for 40-45 minutes. Serve with vanilla ice cream and eat seconds!
